The Lost Leopard

Seeing the world through bmx

I love BMX and I love traveling. 2012 started off with a trip to Chennai, India. I was offered a chance to go there about a year ago, but had to turn it down because I had committed to something else. The missed opportunity played on my mind for a while as I’ve always wanted to visit India. So, when Mongoose asked if Paul Ryan and I would like to go there for a demo it was an easy and hasty reply.

We were only there for a few days, and most of the days were taken up by doing press stuff leading up to the event. We managed to see a few temples and the beach in between. The roads were absolutely chaotic, even though we were assured Chennai is mild compared to most other major cities. Every meal was a tasty treat. Sometimes having 4 different meats on my plate at once covered with a different flavoured gravy.

The one thing we were hoping for that never materialised was a good street ride. The busy roads and cluttered buildings didn’t really allow for any spots to ride. Although this was a delicious little taste of India, I know there is a lot more to see. We spoke with the organisers about doing a tour to a few more cities in the near future, so hopefully that comes about. If I do go back I will make sure we try hit some Uni’s or schools.

Thanks to all the people at CRX sports, TI Cycles, Express Avenue Mall, and Mongoose.

Next trip is Namibia.
